David Cotterrell

Artists

David Cotterrell is an installation artist working across media and technologies to explore the social and political tendencies of a world at once shared and divided.

He is interested in where things intersect, exploring the human condition and the breaks or nuances that can lead to a less ambiguous understanding of the world.

Encapsulating the roles of programmer, producer and director, Cotterrell works to develop projects that can embrace quiet spaces as sites for action, which might (or might not) be clearly understood in the future.

In May 2011 Peckham Platform (then Peckham Space) commissioned Cotterrell to make SlipStream, a film which maps social, geographical and personal histories of North Peckham. It takes North Peckham residents’ narratives of how their landscape has changed over the last 30 years as its starting point and is partially filmed from the air using a specially-constructed aerial drone.

His work was also part of the 2016 Peckham Platform Retrospective exhibition, a timeline of all 20 artists commissions realised by Peckham Platform between 2010 – 2016.
