Sound system

We believe that libraries and sound systems are important social spaces for learning and joy as well as activism and protection, so we commissioned a large structure/stage/library made by architecture collective Yes Make as the central focus for the event.

Over the four day programme we hosted artists and musicians offering creative experiences for the local community, including a portrait studio with Nigel Glasgow, photography by Anselm Ebulue, mural making with Andrew Wright from Nine O Arts, headress making and carnival procession with Barbara Nyarko Director, Carnival Arts and Masquerade Foundation. A community feast was prepared by Rock Steady Kitchen.

Music performances by Chisara, Marlon Pantonic/Endurance Steel Band, Forever Steel Band, kora player Jally Kebba Susso and Derek Johnson, Peckham Rye Singers, and Stratford East singers.
