Peckham Platform is teaming up with Peckham Illuminate, a partnership between Copeland Park, The Palace Of The Dogs and AMASSE, to celebrate the opening of our venue, the creativity of Copeland Park and the launch of a vibrant new mixed media installation transforming the Bussey Passageway into a community-curated cultural corridor.
From 1pm till 5pm, come and enjoy artwork from local artists installed in the Passageway, a large mural by Valeria Salinas Toro alongside pop-up stalls and music in the courtyard, and a programme of creative experiences in our new home.
Sit down at our Mobile Archive where you can browse a special selection of books from our library, listen to excerpts from local oral histories, or just spend some time in quiet contemplation.
Take part in a family-friendly workshop with Playte, a gastro-architect duo using local food as a tool for collective healing,
Watch a film projection from London Screen Archives of vintage footage of Peckham, and see an exhibition by The Palace of The Dogs‘ resident artists.
From 3-4pm, Peckham Platform will host a free panel talk: Who I Am Now
Chaired by Elsa Farmer, graphic designer and former Peckham Platform Trainee and Assistant Producer, this conversation offers an honest look at the realities of actively maintaining and pursuing a creative career, exploring both the challenges and the opportunities facing artists and creatives today.
Panellists are Bamidele Awoyemi (designer, artist and architect), Danny Bailey (artist and founder of The Palace Of The Dogs), Myah Asha Jeffers (artist), Niyanta Sharma (artist and architectural designer) and Valeria Salinas Toro (artist).
This conversation follows on from What Got Me Here, a panel talk held in August as part of our Arts Week. Tickets are free but space is limited, so please reserve your free tickets for this event here.
From 4-5pm we’ll have music from Orii before we close for the day.
So whether you’re a local resident, or just visiting Peckham, come along to the Bussey Building and say hello!
